OSTARA PROJECT EVENT: Advancing Agroecology through Digital Innovation
OSTARA (Operationalizing Agroecology for Resilient Mediterranean Agriculture) is a PRIMA-funded initiative focused on accelerating the transition towards sustainable, climate-resilient farming systems across the Mediterranean. By combining agroecological practices with advanced digital technologies, OSTARA addresses critical challenges such as soil degradation, water scarcity, and biodiversity loss, fostering more resilient and productive agricultural ecosystems.
At its core, the project is developing an open, interoperable, and ethically grounded digital framework for collecting, harmonizing, and analyzing agroecological data. This framework will enable farmers, researchers, and policymakers to better understand soil health, optimize resource use, and make data-driven decisions while ensuring environmental sustainability and data sovereignty.
This event presents the vision, objectives, and main outcomes of the OSTARA project, highlighting its contribution to the adoption and scaling of agroecological practices across diverse Mediterranean contexts.
Participants will explore the project’s key technological pillars and the project’s Living Labs and use cases across the Mediterranean.
In addition, the session will highlight the project’s participatory approach, involving farmers, researchers, and stakeholders in co-creation processes, as well as its alignment with key European initiatives such as the EU Green Deal, the Soil Mission, and the Sustainable Development Goals.
Join this session to discover how OSTARA is transforming agroecology through digital innovation, and how its tools, methodologies, and open resources can be leveraged in future research, policy, and agricultural practices.
